Myths about stammering you should know and these are Hilarious!!!

Is your child stammering? Then you must know about the myths connected with the problem. Stammering is a disorder which affects the forward flow of speech. This disorder is also known as stuttering. As a result of this disorder the patient’s speech may be interrupted by repetitions, interruptions on sounds and words in speech. The following are some of the common myths about stammering.


People who stutter or stammer are not smart:
This is not true, as there is no relation between stammering and intelligence.

Nervousness causes stammering:
If one is suffering from stammering there is no strict reason that nervousness is a cause for the same. Neither should we assume that people who stammer tend to nervous and anxious.

Stress causes stammering
Stammering is caused by many complex factors. Stress is not the only cause, but it can to some extent aggravate stuttering.

Stammering can be ”caught” by hearing some other person stammer or stutter.
This is not at all true. There are many complex factors causing it.

It may help by trying to think about what you want to say first.
This action can make the person who stammers more conscious and may make things worse.
